It is precisely because we are mortal, vulnerable beings who experience pain, make mistakes, and tremble before the unknown that moral choices carry weight and urgency. An omniscient AI might calculate the "optimal" ethical solution, but it cannot experience the visceral tremor of deciding in a trolley problem, the sting of conscience from its own errors, or grasp the transcendent significance of sacrifice. Human moral subjectivity is anchored precisely in the responsibility and empathy born of this finitude. AI's transcendence does not strip away this subjectivity; rather, it liberates us. It releases us from the obsession with "cognitive hegemony," compelling us to shift existential value from "solving problems" to "posing questions," and from "optimal outcomes" to "experiencing processes." Social existential meaning will no longer be defined primarily by productivity or intellectual contribution, but more by our profound gaze upon and response to beauty, suffering, love, and meaninglessness. We must guard against re-anchoring human value in a new arrogance of "emotional uniqueness"—that might just be a substitute for lost cognitive superiority. The true anchor may lie in whether, before the mirror of AI, we can honestly confront and accept the full truth of our existence as contingent, finite beings who, precisely because of this finitude, alone can endow all things with warmth.
